Italian ballet troupe to perform
A four-member dance troupe from Italy will present a ballet in five parts at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation today.
The ballet, Medieval Legends, is being presented in association with the Italian Embassy. According to the Italian Ambassador Pietro Cordone, "the troupe is among the best in Italy and the ballet is a mix of history and myth". «The five different dances – he said – will range from the classical to the contemporary with each dance representing the emotions from the Shakespearean age».
The programe aims to evoke the romance and spirit of the middle ages, a time when knights roamed freely doing battle for justice, love and the honour of their chosen lady.
The performers are from the widely acclaimed Euroballetto Dance troupe: among them Maria Grazia Garofoli, Alberto Maggi, Margherita Parrilla and Ivan Tzanov.

Italian ballet tonight
By a staff reporter
The highly-acclaimed Italian ballet troupe, Euroballetto, will performe tonight al the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi. The band will present the famous Medieval Legends, a ballet in five parts.
Mixing history and myth, Medieval Legends evokes the romance and spirit of the Middle ages, a time when knights roamed freely struggling for justice, love and the honour of their chosen lady.
Knights in shining armour, damsels in distress, kings, queens and just a hint of magic and mystery are the essence of an age that still moulds western behaviour 1.000 years on.
The romance of that age has been the inspiration for some of the world's greatest poets, such as Shakespeare and Dante. Some of their famous texts have been carefully edited by Beatrice Bertuccioli using a voice-over technique to incorporate them into Medieval Legends.
Euroballetto coreographer Zarko Prebil has added his own personal touch and a new dimension to famous excerpts from the classical ballet repertoire, with well-known works by Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Berlioz and Purcell.
Euroballetto includes such well-known artists as Maria Grazia Garofoli, Alberto Maggi, Margherita Parrilla and Ivan Tzanov.
«We are delighted to bring them as representatives of our rich culture heritage». Pietro Cordone, Italian Ambassador, said yesterday.
